Science throughout history has been about exploration and discovery. This educator's resource guide provides an integrated approach to educational experiences for students and educators in the natural science aspects of the Corps of Volunteers for North Western Discovery (the historic name for the Lewis & Clark Expedition, also simply known as the Corps of Discovery). Using the historic observations of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, plus other historical evidence and scientific data, students will be able to note the impacts of change over the past 200 years and discuss their effects. The Columbia River esturary, where the Lewis and Clark Expedition spent the winter of 1805-1806 at a place they named Fort Clatsop, is a well documented example of historic change and effect which serves as the inspiration for this guide.
