Chinuk Wawa (also known as Jargon and Chinook Jargon) is a hybrid lingua franca consisting of simplified Chinookan, combined with contributions from Nuuchahnulth (Nootkan), Canadian French, English, and more. This dictionary’s main purpose is to document the Chinuk Wawa of past generations of Grand Ronde Indians and to contribute to current efforts to revive the language. Etymological notes accompanying each entry explore the language’s hybrid origins, while example sentences and an independent section of texts illustrate usage. Soft cover
