For 57 years, the Lewis & Clark National Park Association has provided essential administrative and financial support for important programs that have reached thousands of visitors and students across the nation. This year, however, the Association faced a major funding disruption as the Fort Clatsop Bookstore was closed March 16-June 19, due to local, state, and federal restrictions from COVID19. While the bookstore is currently open (10-6 daily!), the Visitor Center has been unable to resume normal operations which has affected the number of visitors. Without our cruise ship tours, school groups and onsite special events, it has been a difficult year for us to maintain adequate income for operating expenses.
Throughout this difficult time, the association continues aid to Lewis and Clark National Historical Park. The LCNPA’s contributions towards the park’s living history programs, educational programs, and community speaker series are ongoing, and their popularity prove that they continue to be relevant to the community. The Park Education division has been able to continue to share with students through multiple virtual events. Now more than ever, we need your support.
