About michele maule
From the time I was a little girl, I knew I wanted to do something art related when I grew up. Fast forward to college, I studied art with no real idea what I could do with my degree. After working numerous years for a local grocery store chain, I started working on a small card line that I could present to the home goods buyer of company I worked for. She loved the cards and soon ordered them for all 8 of the stores at the time. Soon, I was selling in all of those stores, along with several local Portland shops and even around the country. I was able to quit my job and become a full time artist. Inspired by nature, place and all things cute. I draw my ideas out in my sketchbook and then commit them to paper using gouache and pencil. After scanning the images in, I use Photoshop to clean them up and brighten them. My overall goal is making art and greeting cards that connect with people on a personal level. When I'm not creating you can find my walking my dogs, hiking or watching really bad reality television. I try to keep my products all locally made here in Portland, or in the United States.
